Isaiah – Humble Roast

Description
So many people are all hype, pomp and fluff. Jesus is of more worth than all creation but you never find him bragging or boasting. He came as a humble servant, to seek and save the lost, to give his life as a ransom for many. He left the glories of heaven to be born into poverty, to live and die for rebels and to be despised and rejected by his own people. This didn’t just happen, but he knew what he was getting into and He did it anyway.
Perhaps nowhere else in all of scripture is the lowliness of Jesus better seen than in the prophecy of Isaiah, written hundreds of years before Jesus’ incarnation. If you’ve never read chapter 53 of Isaiah it is a powerful description of our humble savior.
Isaiah 53:5-6 says of Jesus: “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” - Philippians 2:5-11
